Should You Choose a Used Play Station 2?

Since its release, the Play Station 2 has experienced great popularity with game enthusiasts everywhere. Now that it's been out for awhile and gamers are waiting eagerly for the Play Station 3, the Play Station 2 has become more accessible. While you can purchase a brand new system for a couple hundred dollars, you can obtain a used Play Station 2 for an even better price. If you choose a used model in like new condition, you'll reap all the benefits of this incredible gaming system. Let's take a look at all the features you'll get when you buy a Ps2.

There are two different models of Play Station 2, with the difference between them being the size. The newer model is simply smaller and thinner than the original. The first selling point of the Ps2 are all the incredible games you can play. Not only can you enjoy Play Station 2 games, you can play original Play Station games thanks to a feature known as backwards compatibility. And, you can even play audio CDs and DVD movies.

When you buy a new Play Station 2, you get the console, one controller, an AV cable and AC adaptor. If you want accessories like a memory card for saving games, extra controller or the new EyeToy USB camera, you'll have to buy them separately. And of course, you'll need games as well. This is one area where buying used can really help you out. Many sellers looking to raise money, often to buy a newer game system, will throw in extras to sweeten the deal. For less than the price of a new Ps2, you may be able to get a used model with multiple controllers, a memory card and games.

There are several places where you can easily find a variety of used Play Station 2 systems to choose from. Ebay is one such place. When shopping on Ebay, check the feedback of the seller offering the item to make sure that they have a positive record. Also, you may want to only choose sellers that offer a return policy. That way, if something is wrong with the unit you can return it for a refund. Another place to pick up a used Ps2 for a great price is on Amazon. Or, you could check your local newspaper classifieds for sellers in your area.
