PS3 Pre-Order Explained

The Sony Playstation 3 is probably the most eagerly awaited video game system release of all time. This amazing game system features two different configurations, 20GB and 60GB, to meet the needs of any video game lover. You can play games online, as well as watch DVDs and listen to audio CDs with this system as well. Blu-Ray Disc technology, a Cell Broadband Engine and a multi-axis motion sensing system are just a few of the bells and whistles you'll get with a Playstation 3. Video game enthusiasts everywhere are desperate to snatch up one of these systems when they become available on November 17, 2006. So desperate in fact that some of them aren't willing to wait -- which is why some stores are allowing pre-orders. Read on for PS3 pre-order explained:

In North America, the pre-order process began at some stores in early to mid October. For example, on October 10, EB Games and GameStop were authorized to take a small number of pre-orders, which were sold out in only a few minutes. At Amazon, you can sign up to be emailed when the pre-order process begins. There are a variety of websites that are offering pre-orders, sometimes for incredibly expensive prices. Sony has issued a warning to consumers about these sites, recommending that people wishing to pre-order stick with established and approved retailers like Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Amazon, EB Games and GameStop.

Even some Ebay sellers are offering pre-orders on the Sony Playstation 3. From the looks of things, it's impossible to pre-order a Sony Playstation 3 for less than $700 right now, with the average being $1,000 or even more. This is a testament to the popularity of this system, because the retail prices of the 20GB and 60GB configurations are $499 and $599 respectively.

Now that you've had PS3 pre-order explained to you, you may be wondering if it's even possible to obtain a system at the retail price when the game system hits the stores on November 17. It all depends, on several factors. Your geographic location could come into play. It's likely that larger cities are going to see a lot more game enthusiasts waiting in line than smaller towns will. Regardless of where you live, it's advisable to get an early start if you want to purchase a Playstation 3 on the release date without a pre-order.
