Understanding Ps3 Allocations for WalmartE

As video game lovers everywhere eagerly await the release of the Sony Play Station 3 on November 17, many of them are wondering about Ps3 allocations for Walmart. Walmart is undoubtedly one of the largest chain stores in North America and one of the best places to acquire a Play Station 3. Even so, it's a distinct possibility that even this popular superstore will be sold out of the Play Station 3 very quickly after its release.

There's no concrete way to know exactly how many units will be allocated to each Walmart store. However, by knowing how many units that will be released and looking at game system releases in the past, one can estimate. It's likely that the majority of Walmart stores will have an average of between five and twenty Play Station 3 systems available for purchase on the release date. While that doesn't seem like much, it's likely they will also give consumers the option of pre-ordering a unit before the release date. Keep in mind, these allocation estimates are just that -- estimates. The number of units at Walmart stores could be lower or much higher.

There are two different types of Play Station 3 units from which you can choose -- the 20GB configuration or the 60GB configuration. One can only hope that there are lots of each for consumers to choose from. The difference between the two systems, besides 40 GB of course, is that the 60GB configuration comes with Memory Stick, SD and Compact Flash slots as well as Wi-Fi. The retail price for the 20GB unit is $499, while the price of the 60GB unit is $599. Both come complete with Bluetooth and Blu-ray Disc, four USB ports, HDMI and the Cell Broadband Engine. It's anticipated that many game enthusiasts will shell out the extra $100 for the premium model as opposed to the basic model.

The only way to truly know Ps3 allocations for Walmart is to check with the Walmart stores in your area. It's possible that the manager or an employee will tell you how many systems they're getting, then again it's possible that they won't. They may not know, or may not be allowed to disclose the information. Unless you've pre-ordered a system ahead of time, you might just have to wait in line on November 17th like lots of other people and hope there are enough to go around!
