The release of the Play Station 3 is probably the most anticipated event for video game lovers in 2006. If you're planning on getting one for yourself or for someone else as a gift, you're probably wondering about games. The Playstation 3 is backwards compatible, which means you can play Playstation 1 and 2 games in it. However, there's a great new crop of Play Station 3 games that you certainly don't want to miss!

Racing game enthusiasts will love Ridge Racer 7. This awesome racing game, like all of the new PS3 games, can be played online as well as on your television. Choose from a fantastic variety of cars, race tracks, and customization options. There are single-player and multi-player options for one or more players to enjoy. Another new and improved racing game is Need for Speed Carbon. This game features fun canyon racing and even racing crews. Boxing fans will really like EA Sports Fight Night Round 3. This game features unbelievable graphics that bring the realism of an actual boxing match into your home! The designer of this game, Kudo Tsunoda, has said that this game will feature the most advanced physics, movement and expressions of any boxing game thus far. Another new sports related game is Virtua Tennis 3. Not only does this game feature great graphics like the majority of PS3 games, it's said to be simple to learn.

For those that enjoy military themed games, Killzone won't disappoint. This game offers not only great looks, but the ability for players to interact with one another like never before. You'll have the ability to command a variety of vehicles on land, sea and in the air as well. Project Delta is another to-be-announced upcoming military game for the PS3. This game is a bit futuristic in nature, because it is based around a soldier who finds himself in the middle of an alien attack. You'll need smarts and strategy to lead your troops and beat the alien invaders!

Because many of these games haven't been released yet, you might need to wait a little while before you can buy them. But don't worry -- there will be lots of fun and incredible Play Station 3 games for sale when the game system itself is released. And if you can't find what you're looking for gamewise, you can always play your PlayStation 1 and 2 games until you do!
