The Difference between the Sony Play Station 2 and Play Station 3

Once upon a time, the Sony Play Station 2 was the most popular video game system out there. Stores were selling out in record time, and people were tripping over each other for a chance to snatch up a Ps2. These days, however, there is a new video game system that's captured the attention of game enthusiasts and gift givers around the world, and it's the Play Station 3. If you want one of these systems anytime soon, you will either need to pre-order one or be very early and very lucky at one of the major retailers in your area on November 17th. Some people are wondering if all the hassle and expense is worth it, and instead considering a Play Station 2. Let's examine both of these game systems and explore the differences between them.

The Play Station 2 has been redesigned to be smaller, sleeker and lighter than it was upon release. There are more than 1200 games that can be enjoyed on this video game system. In addition to games, you can play audio CDs and watch DVDs with it as well. And, thanks to a feature known as backwards compatibility, you can play your original PlayStation games on the PS2. There are all kinds of fun optional accessories you can purchase for your Play Station 2. The DualShock controller lets gamers feel the vibrations and movements from actions in the game they're playing. In comparison, the Play Station 3 comes in two different configurations, the 20GB and the 60GB. The two models differ in price by around $100, with the most expensive model being $599 at retail. Like the Ps2, the Play Station 3 has full backwards compatibility and can play audio CDs and DVD movies. The Ps3 comes equipped with Blu-Ray Disc technology, Cell Broadband Engine and amazing wireless capabilities. In addition, the Play Station 3 will let game players play online and interact with millions of other players.

Both the Play Station 2 and Play Station 3 are excellent video game systems from Sony, a trusted name in the electronics industry. For beginning game players or those on a budget, the Play Station 2 is plenty to keep you entertained for hours on end. Advanced gamers may want to spend a bit more and get the Play Station 3 for the ultimate in gaming entertainment!
